ブリューゲルの世界
ベツレヘムの嬰児虐殺
マタイの福音書に出てくるお話でヘロデ王による嬰児虐殺の絵。新しい王（ジーザス）がベツレヘムに生まれたと東方の三博士から聞いたヘロデ王が、自分の王位が奪われるのを恐れて、ベツレヘムにいる2歳未満の男児をすべて殺せと命じました。
当時１０００人しかいなかった小さな村で、実際は２０-３０人の子供が殺されたそうです。
残酷ながらこの絵は人を魅惑すると感じてしまうのは私だけでしょうか。そうでもないよね、有名だし。
