comic caffe

I am at Japanese manga kissa-comic caffe. It is a caffe with internet, games, comics, magazines and dvd. There are few ways for payment like hourly, or till 6hours, etc...(you can get free drinks and order food too!). There are public seats to private seats and also for couple seats. The place is open ed for 24-7 and sells tooth brush, contact lense cleaner, face wash and so on. Yes, some places even have a shower, how odd....


This place has been my favorite place since I was young. I don't use for staying over night but I go there often to use internet and read my favorite comics. When I was young, I used had over 100 comics but it is quiet expensive to afford all the series. For example, one comic approximately cost 3pounds, so if I want to read Naruto series(total 46comics), I have to pay 139pounds?! However, when I go to comic caffe, I only need to pay 3pounds per hour or cheaper.






This place is like heaven for nerds!!!


UK should built such a caffe like here....so all the UK geeks including me would be more than happy.

japanese girls

the only annoying thing living in Japan is I don't have internet access in my grandma's house.T_T

It's really obvious and big in Japan how everyone is obsessed with ''kawai'' and ''koakuma'', cuteness and cute-kinky style. Most girls have light brown/blonde, dolly hair with dolly make up and wears dolly clothes...!And most males like girls like them. It became stereotype and everyone look similar to each other.


I don't know why I was paying attention to this but most girls wear mini skirt rather than trousers in this country. Some girls even wears suspender and gaata, and showing them through mini skirt.






I don't know what I am trying to say but that was my primary observation in Tokyo so far....






Btw, I had a flu vaccination at hospital today...painful....T_T

Im in Tokyo now. Feel a bit weird to be honst.
My cousin came over today when I was about to go out with my dad to get new laggage and she said I look old and transvestile....because I was wearing a vintage clothes and put red lip stick...really nice comment from her. ;S nobody in here wears red lipstick so I felt a bit uncomfortable but I guess i shouldn:t be care about what people says. heh!

anyway, I forgot to write about Emmanuelle`s tuotiral last week. I was really confused with my dissertaion.... but after the discussion with her, I think im going to focus on
*childhood between western and japanese.
*japanese lolita girls(like streotype, visual language, body presentation,)
*Dolls
*old feminism idea(like what women should behave.....what is women`s stereotype figure around Rococo era...)

japanese people are obsessed with European looks. Nowadays, I see lots of mix raced models, singers, actresses in Japan. Anna Tsuchiya is one of the super famous mix-raced celebrity in Japan. Especially goth/lolita girls love her. She does lots of cover shots of Kera! magazine (punk-Lolita fashion magazine).

I had couple of test shoot before but don't really dare to put them... my lighting system was baaaadddddd....TT
well i had test shoot on tuesday. testing lighting system. my stylist got this amazing clothes from designer(from london fashion week) and we put that women's clothes on male model.
they look gorgeous. :) and im happy with lighting system :))))))))) thanks Doh for tips!

my old laptop is...3yrs old and cost only £400 so it didn't last long. its a bit shitty now... :S

I went to Christmas shopping today :)
presents for people and of course for myself too hehe. 
i should be studying but i need a little break from it today. so here i am wrapping presents all night. im going to be in Tokyo for Christmas. my family doesn't really celebrate Christmas and I haven't spend Christmas with my family for 3years so I better do something to be memorial for this year. 

meeting with stylist part lll

Stylist, Irena and I went to fancy shop together today. We made an appointment with manager so we were able to look through accessories, dresses and shoes to borrow for our photo shoot. It was great, lots of victorian styles. But we had a problem....:S the manager mentioned about money.....like whole outfit cost £94 for a week. well we got many things that we want to borrow them and obviously we can't afford them so we had a little chat with manager and we decided to contact with PR manager(he controls these money stuff....), trying to negotiate with him for free after new year. 


im sorry if I am not making any sense right now. I am watching movie, ''Orphan'' and writing at the same time. It is really interesting and fuc*ed up movie though. It actually reminded me of my dissertation little bit. The girl got disorder(forgot the name but...its mainly dwarf disease...her body doesn't grow up) and she wears Victorian child clothes, almost like a doll. Probably good to discuss about it with Emmajuelle.

I went to Nun head cemetery last sat.day for my photo shoot location. 
It was creepy but really really beautiful and perfect for my photo shoot! 
its just.. a bit messy and wet road......

I met stylist today to show our research to each other and chat chat chat :)
She brought some images and we chose the ones we liked so then she could contact the designers to borrow them for our shoot. We also planned to go to Fancy shop in Angel to talk to the owner to borrow some accessory/outfit items next week :) Again, she is very working hard and lovely person! :)

tutorial with Emmanuelle

I just had totorial with Emmanuelle. My heart was pumping hard as I was scared of her, thinking she might gonna shout at me before the class. I was wrong. She was really nice and supportive. I told her about what happened to my previous presentation (I have to choose eighter lolita-children or princess) and she respond me like I actually could do both as long as I mentioned that Japanese Lolita fashion is different from Western's Lolita in introduction.

tutorial with Kelly

I had tutorial with Kelly today. I brought few of my story board but I forgot others like test shots, my research book or some photographer's images! I was so excited to see movie shot in front of my building, all these setting and crews. 
I am very clumsy. 


anyway, the tutorial was like job interview rather than just a conversation between student and teacher. I was really unprepared and there were many things I had to do it in 2weeks.

Market in bond street.

  oh, I forgot to mention this. I went to Bond street for Christmas shopping with my boy friend and I saw this little market in middle of the street! it's like little vintage shops selling sweets, foods, bugs, accessories, and other stuff. just across M&S in bond street and you will find it. it close at 8;30pm.
I bought lots of fudge (whisky, baileys, ram raison flavours) and aroma bath thingy...(you put it in bath tub) for me and his mother. smells gooooooooooooood :)
 I bought German sausage hot dog and the sausage was longer than actual bread!!! O_O

complaining

i had test shoot with my friend on last friday. I totally screwed up. I haven't really taken many fashion images and im losing my confident or.... thinking I shouldn't be a photographer...! well.... I really need to get more practice and skill....its just sooo hard for me :S


there will be shooting a movie called 'King's Speech' today(it's almost 2am) right front of my flat building. There will be Colin Firth, Geoffry Rush, Helen Bow.....something...
I am going to wake up early to see the shot. hopefully, I will get to see it :)

im so confused :S

okay, I am really stuck with my dissertation. 
I prsented it a week before about my princess research. Basically I started my research with Japanese Goth/Lolita fashion, Rococo/Baruque age influence. Then relationship between loyalty and doll. Then moved to Princess Diana for modern princess fashion and.....Lula magazine as case study. I thought my research was smooth to follow but tutors said I should choose between child or princess for my essay. They also said it was also because I put Lolita fashion, my ideas were scattering to everywhere like Lolita fashion is not connecting to princess fashion. 
I read books and Japanese Lolita fashion is different from the impression of western Lolita idea and these two has nothing to do eachother (I don't even know why Japanese call these princess/doll fashion as 'Lolita' ). 
Fundamentally, I really want to write about these japanese dolly fashion. Kelly said I can't just write about it and I am very very confused now.... :( 


ah... I watched 'Lolita' as Itai suggested me to watch to understand the meaning of Lolita. The movie was about old man's desire towards a young girl and the movie actually made me unconfortable. It was a good film but I didn't think I want to write about it. 


I really will be appreciated if any of you can help me with little tips or suggestions.

meeting with stylist/make up artist for my final major project

I met my stylist and make up artist yesterday. Well i met them in different time because I never met the stylist before and I'd like to spend time individual time with her to know her better. From my previous final major presentation feed back, all the teachers seemed to like it and I got good feed back but they also told me that I better have good stylist to accomplish my goal. I already have one of my designer/stylist who is my friend and we had couple of shoots together and I, myself really like styling up the clothes.Nevertheless, thought it would be more serious and better to get 'real' stylist. Anyway, we met at Davis Street and I showed her my power point presentation. I was glad that she was interested in Japanese Culture and she knew a lot of Japanese culture so it wasn't hard for me to explain her about Gothic/Lolita cosplay. She was eager about the project and very very experienced. We both agreed to take a shoot next year and till then, plan about the outfit and confirmed to keep in touch constantly. I am so happy that I found the funny, friendly, knowledgeable and lovely stylist :) hoping to collaborate with my designer friend and her, and we all have fun <3 


I think.... to keep in touch with the team is good. I met my make up artist just to catch up with her and we had a nice coffee time at star bucks. It was good to share the personal problem and talk about what we like to shoot next time. We can share our opinion and do understand each other. I am very happy to keep that relationship with her. She was having problem like she wanted to have proper make up sites for her and we were talking about how hard to approach ourselves to clients or agency. Mark's class was really helpful as I told her to spend quality time to create blog and website. So then she can focus on her signature style more and let people know about her. 




oh oh, i watched 2012.... thought it would be same as others like Independent days or Day After Tomorrow.But it was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. it makes me want call my parents right after i watch the movie.

I watch the Japanese Japanese movie, Shimotsuma monogatari. Its basically about Japanese fashion, sub culture and two girls' friendship. (thank you Karin for reminding me to watch it :)
I think I watch it for 3-4times already but it is brilliant. I don't get bored of it and can fit myself into these girls' shoes like I found lots of similarities between then and me. I also love how Momoko(one of the character) indulge herself with BTSSB brands. Lolita Lolita Lolita fashion,,,, <3(again, it has nothing to do with Western meaning of Lolita. No paedophiles) 
I'd love to wear it one day without worrying about what others think.
